We stopped at Valley Of Fires Recreation Area near Carrizozo, NM. They have a very nice campground.
There are sites with Electric and water for $18 a night ($9 with the Golden Access Pass). There are some nice views from the campsites.
We hiked the 2/3 mile interpretive trail around on the lava flow next […]
We stopped at Three Rivers Petroglyph Site.
There are many petroglyphs and some are very detailed unlike most we’ve seen. The top left image looks a little like a space alien. We are near Roswell? The top right looks a little like a smurf? Note the bottom right image even has the fur coat […]
Wednesday: We rose early and left Walmart’s heading into the traffic abyss of Phoenix. Traffic wasn’t bad at all but I can’t say the same for the street signs. We seemed to always be in the wrong lane after following the advise of a signs that were incorrect or confusing. Anyway, we arrived at Lost […]
Sunday: After leaving Las Vegas about 1pm, we headed South on Highway 93 across Hoover Dam toward Kingman, Arizona. When we crossed Hoover Dam, the inspection of the RV was a little quicker than I would have thought. We must look like good old folks because we were on our way in about a minute.
We […]
Monday:
What luck! The parking lot at the Rio Casino is right next to the railroad tracks. There are lots of trains that go by. We like trains. But, one of the tracks had a train stopped on it both Saturday and Sunday and unfortunately, it was the track on our side so we couldn’t […]
Monday:
We Headed out on I15 in the morning stopping at Baker at the Mad Greek’s Diner for breakfast. We then headed North on Highway 127 toward Death Valley. Weather was great, no wind, no rain.
On the road to Death Valley. Still flowers on our path.
The Natural Bridge South of Badwater was […]
Memorial Weekend in Yosemite. Yeah, a bit crowded!
Necessary because it was to only chance to get a peak at the falls when the water was still flowing heavily. We stayed just outside the park in a RV park in El Portal on Highway 140.
A view of Upper Yosemite Falls, left, and a Lower Yosemite […]
Took a ride West on the bike trail along the Kern River.
I rode this portion of the park West of Mohawk Ave to Enos Lane (I5), basically all the way from right to left and back, about 22-24 miles RT..
The above pictures are of a water tank along the bike trail. It is painted with […]
Sunday, I got a lift from Aunt Helen up to the Bakersfield Community College. I attended the college many years ago. I looked around and it looks much the same. They have added buildings but they, wisely, are all of the same simple concrete design. They don’t look 40 years old and will probably look […]
Kern River Park is a 6000 acre strip park that runs from the mouth of Kern Canyon to Interstate 5 west of Bakersfield, a total of 30 miles. Wednesday, I got out my bike and rode to the bluffs east of town from near Uncle Doug’s house off Truxton Avenue. It was possibly 5 miles […]
