We left Endee heading West on I40. We stopped in Santa Rosa to look at the Blue Hole but there are no signs to it and people we asked for directions evidently didn’t know much about it so it probably isn’t much to see if the residents haven’t seen it.
We made it to Albuquerque with […]
Sunrise at our campsite.
We took the Rotunda/Throne Room Cave Tour this morning. This cave is pristine. It only opened for tours in 1999 and they seem to have the impact of visitors minimized appropriately. Even so, it is an excellent tour with possibly the best decoration condition of any cave I’ve ever seen. Unfortunately, nothing […]
We moved to Kartchner Caverns SP in Benson Az. We have reservations for a cave tour tomorrow morning.
After settling in we drove down to Bisbee to look around. Old Town Bisbee is very nice. Probably the best condition old west town we’ve seen. The usual antique stores but there are a lot of stores […]
We left Apache Junction (Lost Dutchman SP) and headed South toward Tucson on Highway 79.
We checked in to the Trav-Tel RV park in Tucson and then headed out to the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum, about 10 miles West. This is a wonderful place combining both an arboretum and a zoo of sorts with desert creatures […]
We went out toward Superior Arizona to look at the Boyce Thompson Arboretum State Park. A very nice arboretum with some fine specimens of cacti and succulents.
I liked the sign that strongly implied keep out.
We went East on Highway 88, the Apache Trail. It goes by Canyon Lake, Apache Lake and Roosevelt Lake. There is also a lot of dry land, pretty, but dry.
We stopped in Tortilla Flats by Canyon Lake for a look around. It’s famous for having dollar bill wall paper. The dollars on the […]
Wednesday: We rose early and left Walmart’s heading into the traffic abyss of Phoenix. Traffic wasn’t bad at all but I can’t say the same for the street signs. We seemed to always be in the wrong lane after following the advise of a signs that were incorrect or confusing. Anyway, we arrived at Lost […]
Where?
SURPRISE.
We left Burro Creek Campground about 10:30. There is some beautiful country on the way to Wickenberg. A bit of a climb to the summit.
We stopped in Wickenberg for a walk around town and lunch. Lunch was at the Cowboy Cafe, a nice local joint. Very good chicken fried steak. Lou had fish and chips […]
Sunday: After leaving Las Vegas about 1pm, we headed South on Highway 93 across Hoover Dam toward Kingman, Arizona. When we crossed Hoover Dam, the inspection of the RV was a little quicker than I would have thought. We must look like good old folks because we were on our way in about a minute.
We […]
I hit the road a little after 11am after preparing the RV (dump, fill, etc).
Stopped in Lake Havasau for a quick look around and stretch of the legs.
I then went on to Oatman, an old ghost mining town East of laughlin. I came in from the East to Oatman and the road (Old […]
