Sunday: I relaxed in camp while Lou and Dawn took a few short excursions including a visit to Orick’s shops.
We went to the evening campfire program which was about birds here in the park.
Monday: Just relaxing around camp and the prairie today. We enjoyed a nice campfire of our own this evening.

Our campsite on the […]

11.08.06 | On The Road South

A casual morning. We got on the road about 10am. We had to get a couple of things before we left. When I dumped the holding tanks, the cap broke, so I had to find another. It seemed like everyone was out of them until we found it at an RV dealer South of town.
We […]

We went North a few miles to Ten Mile Lakes. We looked around an RV Resort there. It’s one of those membership or deeded lot places. The resort was OK but nothing special. The deeded lot area was way over crowded. Quite different from their webpages. A person would be better off just buying a […]

9.08.06 | Shore Acres Park

Shore Acres State Park West of Coos Bay Oregon.

The coast is quite interesting here.

In 1962 many trees were lost in a storm. This was probably one of them. The roots don’t seem to penetrate the ground at all. This is a rocky cliff. Must be hard for the trees.

The garden at Shore […]

Silver and Golden Falls State Park is located about 24 miles East of Coos Bay. The first 19.5 miles are on a nice paved road. The last 3.5 miles are on gravel road which narrows to barely one lane in width near the end. There is a large parking area at the park so a […]

7.08.06 | Cold Here

Today was just plain cold! It was overcast most of the day and was quite cold. We looked around old town Coos Bay. We then drove over to Charleston, Oregon, a fishing village West of Coos Bay. We intended to find a nice place to eat but didn’t like the looks of any of the […]

The West Coast Game Park Safari is located just North of Bandon, Oregon. This is a large petting zoo where there are quite a few exotic animals. Dawn really enjoys visiting petting zoos.

This parrot greets all the visitors as they enter. He’s hanging from a couple of toe nails in the doorway of his […]

6.08.06 | Coos Bay, Oregon

We got off to a slow start today. We’re on the road to Coos Bay today.
On the way, we stopped at the Wild Animal park in Bandon. It was lots of fun. This petting zoo has some of the most exotic animals of any we’ve seen.
We also stopped in Old Town Bandon to check all […]

We went back down to Crescent City for th day to visit the Del Norte County Fair.

We watched the Loggers Competition. All the contestants were from the sponsoring company, Green Diamond Resource Company or students at Humboldt State University. Above left chopping contest, above right bucking (sawing) contest. Sorry for the flags in the […]

Not much going on today. We eventually got going and explored a little North.

On the road toward Port Orford we took a little hike (1/2 mile) to a point that gave some nice views. Along the trail we saw some yellow flowers with a nice butterfly (top right of flower). Also some white flowers. […]
