Brown’s Town Campground

South of town in Bishop, California is a nice campground called Brown’s Town campground.
They have both hookup and no hookup sites. Lots of grass and nice big trees. They have a little museum on the grounds as well. Nice place. We stayed here in April 2008 in a no hookup site. Most of the hookup sites were taken and those that remained would not have allowed us to use our satellite dish for Internet access. They do not allow generators so our solar helped with that decision as well. The campground is about a 1/2 mile south of town.

Devils Tower KOA, Wyoming

This is a nice campground at the entrance to the Devils Tower monument. As I remember, the roads are dirt but nice. There is lots of grass in the park. We had a water and electric site but full hookups are also available. It’s a good spot to stay when visitin the tower. We visited in Auguast 2004.

Storrie Lake SP, Las Vegas, NM

Just NW of town, Storrie Lake SP is easy to get to from I25. You can get electric and water hookups or stay in a primitive campsite as we did. There is a sanitary dump and a nice shower room. We stayed in mid October 2006 and when the sun was up, the wind was blowing hard from the west. We understand this isn’t the norm though. Nice camp to the night.

Prospect RV Park, Wheat Ridge

We stayed here in mid October, 2006. It’s located close to Denver in Wheat Ridge. Seemed to be the closest RV park. Nice gravel roads and sites. Sites are well spaced. Next door is Prospect Park which has a nice lake. Possibly the cleanest restrooms of any RV park we’ve stayed at. Each site only has access to one of the eight combination restroom/shower rooms. Access is shared with other sites so there can be an ocassional wait. We stay here when we return to the area.

Sky City Casino, New Mexico

The casino has a big gravel lot near the casino. There are a lot of trucks but the price is right, free.

Walmart, Winslow, Arizona

Walmart’s allows overnight stays in their lot. There are a lot of trucks and a lot of beggers but otherwise a nice place to stay. The trucks have their own parking area but, unfortunately, big RV’s filled it up so the trucks had to come ino the main lot by the RV’s. We were stuck here for four days due to a snow storm. The beggers aren’t active at night but are pests during the day. There is a state park a short distance outside town but we were concerned about getting stuck in the snow.

Mill Casino, North Bend, Oregon

The Mill Casino in North Bend (Coos Bay), Oregon. There is a paid RV park here as well as free boondocking in a gravel lot next door. Register for the free site just like you would for a paid site. They allow 7 days stay every 28 days. Nice views of the harbor from either site.

Redwood Acres Fairground, Eureka

A typical fairground RV park. A single road with sites on each side. Fairly close sites when full. Kind of difficult to get to but close access to Eureka.

Union Landing SB, Westport, Ca

Our campsite was quite nice here at Union Landing SB. Right over a nice beach. Access to walk on the beach is a little challenging though.

A nice buzzard (at least it looks like one). A bunch of sea birds on a rock off shore.

A centipede (or other caterpillar) on the road in camp. A bunny at our campsite.

An arch in the rocks below the bluffs near the campground. Some missing road on the old Highway 1 which is the road in the campground.

The beach was just below our campsite but only accessable at low tide. Most of the campsites are right on the edge. We found some interesting polished shells and glass. We also found two waterfalls, eack about 30 feet.

Mackerricher State Park, Cleone, Ca

The boardwalk around lake Cleone. Lake Cleone was located next to our campsite.

The beach with remnants from the old lumber mills that were here. Heavy surf at the beach.

A very nice park though campsites are a little close. The beach is nice and the tide pools as well. Good sea lion viewing. Located about 2 miles North of Fort Bragg, California.
